Players in Desktop Linux: Dell, HP?

Dell and HP are both looking at offering consumers a little more choice than Windows on new desktops and laptops. It may be some time before customers can order a computer loaded with their preferred distro, but at least they’re revisiting the issue. Dell, HP, and other OEMs could capitalize on the price differential by offering hardware upgrades in lieu of a Windows license; this could offset any possible losses they may fear since the system requirements for most Linux configurations aren’t as demanding as they are for Vista.
