Intriguing? These are the numbers of security advisories and average number of days it took to correct them for three different operating systems — according to Symantec. In order they’re for Windows, Red Hat Linux, and Mac OSX.

Symantec pointed out that the vulnerabilities in Red Hat were not as severe as those found in VoleWare.

It turns out that the self-touted hyper-secure Mac OSX was well below Windows despite its sanctimonious advertising campaigns saying otherwise. There were 43 vulnerabilities in Mac OS X and a 66 day turnaround on fixes.

That’s right: Apple finished below Microsoft and Red Hat. It took Apple, on average, three times longer to correct about the same number of problems than it took the dreaded gang at Microsoft. New ad fodder? Yeah, for the folks in Redmond.
