This week’s report of free wireless internet service comes to us from Redditch, England (ex-home of Royal Enfield motorcycles). Police were called out when neighbors reported a stranger using a laptop while his car was parked outside a house in the early morning hours. Neighbors were tipped off by his creative, but incomplete, use of cardboard on the windows. The suspected wifi pirate was cautioned and released.
Many people have no clue that they’re (illegally) providing free wifi to the public via their wireless routers. Many more apparently don’t know that they can face prosecution for using another person’s wireless network without permission. Tut, tut.
